Color Alert: Blue and Coral

With this weather going on outside, I am beginning to think my "summer" posts must come to a halt (and I am not complaining, it felt AMAZING out there today!). So to end the summer series of posts, I bring to you a trendy color combination - BLUE & COREL. These two hues, individually, are often combined with an other color out there...so why haven't we put them both together more? Coral and blue make me think of sitting on the back porch, enjoying a slight breeze, on the shores of South Caroline (why SC, I have no idea, it is just what comes to me with this color combo ha!). The great thing about these two hues is that is creates a very versatile palette for the BIG day. If you are having an early spring wedding, you can use the pastel shades of blue and coral...and if the BIG day is in the midst of summer, go with the BOLD! And since there are multiple variations of both blues and corals, mixing and matching tones is easy to do! So ladies, if this is one of your last days of summer, sit back, and enjoy the night breeze on your back porch...and check out a little inspiration below!

Picture This!: The Peacock is Out!

I don't know how many of you caught the news alert earlier this week, but a Peacock escaped the New York Zoo, and was caught roaming around both streets and buildings. I have to say, although this "peacock" escape seemed like a silly matter to broadcast so widely, it was such a nice relief to all the economical drama flooding ever TV channel, PLUS it gave me a perfect muse of inspiration for this week's post!

Peacocks...simply put, one of the most beautiful and vibrant animals in existence (at least in my opinion!). That bird is a true piece of work from the great Lord above; there is simply no way that such genuine colors came together out of pure randomness. I try to highlight ideas and color combinations that create opposites (kind of like an oxymoron), and a peacock's BOLD and ELEGANT stature is no different. Peacock inspiration will easily add richness to your BIG day with lots of eye-pleasing pops of color! Enjoy!

Picture This!: A Destination without the Trip

So far, there has been a photo, a quote, an animal, and an activity featured as the "Picture This!" weekly series inspiration. I try to use various types of inspiration to show that literally ANYTHING can be your muse for the BIG day! It is all about knowing yourself, your significant other, and you both as a couple - things you love to go together, places you enjoy traveling to, schools you root for, the type of music you listen to...I mean the possibilities are seriously endless! I often hear of girl's ranting about how they would LOVE to have a beach wedding - just think...saying your "I Do's" on a sandy Hawaiian Beach or against a Puerto Rican Sunset, geez, you cannot get more picturesque than that! Although a destination wedding definitely has it's perks, there is a list of sacrifices you make to have a tropical affair. No fear ladies, if the beach has your heart, but you still want to make your hometown-big-wedding dream prove true, simply let a vacation picture from your favorite trip inspire your hometown wedding. Bring the "Aloha" to Atlanta and a beachy breeze to your ceremony! Check out an inspiration board created purely from a beach photo below:

Picture This!: Acoustic Ambiance

Do you and your man share the passion for music - many times, this is the case. Musically talented people tend to find each other (I would love to be in a household with music being created 24.7). Personally, there is nothing better than sitting on a porch on a lazy afternoon listening to some laid back tunes - Jack Johnson anyone? My husband and I got the opportunity to live in Nashville for sometime, or should I say Music City, and were fortunate to experience a community that fills your spirit with genuine and raw music on a daily basis. Whether your musically talented or just plain out passionate about it, having your BIG day inspired by your favorite type of tunes can be a perfect inspiration! The neutral color combos of an acoustic guitar easily created a laid back atmosphere that will keep guest feeling comfy and relaxed. No ever said more was better ALL the time - this inspiration filled with muted elements offers lots of understated elegance. So ladies, let the music speak to your soul and create a day's worth of chill time for you and the guests! Much love!

Picture This! Holiday Weekend!

It is Friday, yay! And we have a three day weekend, yay! There is lots to be excited about for sure! I I hope everyone has a safe, fun, and relaxing weekend that is filled with friends & family. Take time to remember what this weekend really means and how truly blessed we are to be AMERICANS! I personally will be partaking in the annual Peachtree Road Race 2011 on Monday - good luck to everyone that is joining me (I am going to need that luck myself...so I do not collapse of heat exhaustion).

I LOVED making this inspiration board, truly inspired by this upcoming weekend. If you are an "all American" couple with the love of baseball, this wedding could be your perfect style! Again, have fun everybody and be safe!

Happy Fourth of July!

Picture This! - Southern Elegance!

David Orndorf
I have really enjoyed creating today's post -- actually I really enjoy doing all the "Picture This!" series; nevertheless, I love today's muse! I have always had a thing for dogs and horses..don't ask me why, I do not know, it is just an innate "thing" in me :)  [If you missed Lucky In Love's latest post on how to incorporate you beloved dog into your BIG DAY, click here!] Horses have such a longstanding in human history - and to think they used to be our only means of transportation blows any modern mind! So it may be southern girl in me or the thorough history we have with these specific mammals -- either way, the combination of their strong stature and earthy essence make horses an easy inspiration!

I found this wonderful photo on Etsy, who would have guessed? The outstanding photography is captured by David Orndorf and presents a wonderful color palate for any wedding! If you are looking to fill your BIG DAY with soft, earthy compositions - with an underlying southern charm...this inspiration board may be a perfect start for you! Enjoy!

Picture This: Colorful Quote!

If you missed reading up on one of last week's posts, "Picture This," you did not see the start of a new weekly series! In a nutshell, I will present a single source of inspiration (i.e. a photo, an object, a quote, etc.) and create an entire wedding inspiration board from the the muse! If you are a creative mind - I encourage you to try the "Picture This!" activity yourself..it is fun to imagine a million ways to create a single wedding!

You make me happy when skies are gray -poster A3 print
By Handz from Etsy

This weeks "Picture This!" inspiration comes from a printed quote I found on, none other than, Etsy! The picture really struck me for several reasons: (1.) This quote is from a song I think we all universally know! It may have even been the first song we learned sing when we were little - so cheery and simple!, and (2.) I loved the color combination the artist used to compose the print. Often, brides are afraid to use bold colors throughout their wedding and stick to the notion of being "soft and sweet;" however, being BOLD is not BAD - if anything, bright colors bring warmth and cheerfulness to any ambiance! A wedding is a celebration after all! Check out how the basic primary colors can be a perfect setting for your wedding day celebration - still keeping it classy and elegant all the way through! Look below to find a wedding fully inspired from the colorful quote through and through! Enjoy!

Picture This: Whimsical Inspiration Board

I was watching Project Runway over the weekend, and one of the episodes prompted today's post. The Project Runway competitor's had an awesome challenge: Use a photograph captured in New York City for their single source of inspiration! What a fantastic idea! Creators in any form (fashion designers, artists, authors, florists, etc.) find inspiration from endless sources, and creating your BIG DAY is no different. To facilitate endless inspiration, I will be starting a weekly series "Picture This" where I take a single object, photo, or even quote, and make a wedding inspiration board from it! I absolutely love and enjoy going through the inspiration process - I encourage everyone, bride or not, to try it out! If your new at it, Style Me Pretty, one of my go-to wedding sites, has a wonderful app for creating inspiration boards! Enjoy!

While this photo did not come from New York City, it did come from one of my favorite places...Etsy! I encourage everyone to explore the endless world of Etsy - you seriously can find amazing stuff there! Anyways - back to the photo...I came across this whimsical photograph the other day and was instantly inspired. The uplifting mood and cheery color composition presented in the photograph make a perfect medium for wedding day inspiration! Check out how my photo muse can direct everything from cake, to flowers, to favors! Can you see the inspiration through out?
